Christ Unlimited
Herman Makkink made a set of 4 pairs of dancing Christs in his studio at St. Katharine’s Docks, London UK in 1969. They were also a focal point in Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange during a famous scene in the film, where the main character experiences hallucinations while listening to Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
No more editions were produced by Herman Makkink until 2005 when the Japanese company MEDICOMTOY made a series of reproductions under his supervision. These were discontinued by the Herman Makkink Estate in 2017. A new series of Christ Unlimited is still under development by the estate and aimed for a release in 2024.
