Sculpture by Herman Makkink
This kinetic work was made by Makkink in 1969, in his London studio at St Katharine's Docks. It gained iconic status after being discovered by director Stanley Kubrick who gave it a central role in his movie 'A Clockwork Orange' (1971) along with another Herman Makkink multiple, Christ Unltd. The Herman Makkink Estate holds the copyrights for the original work and has now developed an edition of the Rocking Machine, 2020 from the original mold in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
